A Love Story with Food

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I will discuss my cookbook, “Something Healthy to Eat – A Love Story with Food”, and talk about how I was able to reverse my husband’s high cholesterol to excellent without medication by changing ingredients in well loved and familiar foods. Truly a love story with food as nothing says loving like something from the oven – especially if you can make your love healthy.

New Shows

I am very excited about the new LynnCAM TV. We are planning more healthy eating shows to stem childhood obesity. The kids love to cook with me on TV and enjoy the healthy meals they prepare after the show is filmed.

We’re looking for sponsors and for our shows to be picked up on national TV.

Happy New Year and healthy eating!

Thanksgiving – A Success

One of my guests is diabetic and trying to lose weight. As usual, I was able to present a Thanksgiving feast that was appropriate for my friend and for everybody else to enjoy. I served:

  • Cream of Carrot Soup (no fat, dash of salt)
  • Turkey breast (no skin, no fat)
  • Green Beans Almondine with sprinkle of olive oil
  • Cranberry Relish (very little sugar)
  • Sweet Potato and White Potato Medallions with skin drizzled with a little agave syrup
  • Very Instant Strawberry Sorbet (sugar free but sweet)
  • Green Tea

I served family style and made plenty. The men folk and those who could afford second helpings were quite satisfied. My friend was satisfied as well although she was aware of her portion sizes. Everybody had a great time, enjoyed the food and were thrilled that it was healthy. All the recipes came straight from my book.

I entered a muffin contest. As you know, my muffin as all of my recipes will be different, beneficial to health and delicious. You won’t feel guilty enjoying this because it is naturally lower in calories and is heart healthy. For me to win, I must have comments of how wonderful and healthful this muffin is. Please send your raving reviews to http://sweetfry.com/contests/18/Worlds-Greatest-Muffin-Recipe-Contest. Thank you so much.

Lasagna

Lasagna is a delicious comfort food but all that cheese inside and on top can clog arteries. My lasagna will keep arteries clean. I will make my “cheese” from tofu. Will let you know how it came out.

Lynn Journal

I am writing a column called “Healthy Eating” in the Lynn Journal. You can find me on www.lynnjournal.com. I have written 3 recipes so far. The first recipe is in this week’s paper. The recipe is “Fat Free Plain and Fancy Cheesecake” on page 8. The recipe to come out next week is for “Plain and Fancy Teacake”. This cake was a winner on the “Cut the Calories Contest” on the Good Morning America show. Because I change ingredients to make my recipes healthy, the recipes are naturally lower in calories. The 3rd recipe will be Gazpacho, a nice cold summer soup that refreshes. It’s great for this heat wave.

I need suggestions for the recipe to follow Gazpacho. Any recommendations?
